FROM GUL HAYAT COLLECTION:
" REPORT OF THE SIND UNIVERSITY COMMITTEE".
After the separation of Sindh from Bombay Presidency, it was felt that Sindh should have its own University. In this regard under Sindh Government Resolution, General Department, No. 607-B./40 of 24th June 1940 the Committee consisting of 15 members (6 Muslims) was constituted with Syed Miran Muhammad Shah as its Chairman and B.J.Vaswani as its Secretary. It was a tough task for the Committee as Sindhis stood divided on the issue. They controversy invited attention of the Press and handsome literature/material took birth, even poetry was also composed, that is uploaded on our website www.drpathan.com
This official Document of 135 pages also reflects division of Sindhis on vital issues. It is said that Sindhi Muslims were advised  by Scholars from Punjab not to go for a separate University. Five Hindu members of the Committee  wrote Minutes of Dissent.
There is need of compilation of the history of Sindh University as it reflects Hindu - Muslim approach towards development of education in Sindh. (Mumtaz Ali Pathan)
